Connecting Foodies With Celebrity Chefs
American Express unlocks memorable moments.
Unforgettable dining experiences often feel as if they’ve been tailored especially for you.
To help unlock these memorable moments, American Express Invites opens the door to exclusive dining experiences across Canada, allowing guests to get up close and personal with some of the world’s top chefs.
Here’s just a taste of what foodies experienced this year:
Guests enjoyed an exclusive taste of NYC during a special pop-up dinner at a Toronto hotspot known as an energetic hub for dining and hospitality, as well as visual and performance art. With guest Chef David Santos of Louro, diners delighted in a three-course prix-fixe menu of Portuguese-inspired dishes, also featuring Drake One Fifty Executive Chef Ted Corrado and team.
Guests were welcomed into Luma’s impressive dining room with a flute of champagne, before feasting their way through five courses featuring highly anticipated local food trends from celebrated Chef Michael Wilson and his expert culinary team. Keeping to a homegrown and sustainable menu, Chef Wilson paired 100-kilometre radius pickles and roots with a 2013 Vinos Sanz, Sanz Clásico from Rueda, Spain, made from one of the best breeds of grape in the world.
Featuring world-class chefs, over 70 exhibitors and the city’s top restaurants, Taste of Toronto hosted upwards of 20,000 visitors at its festival for foodies. With Amex as a top sponsor, Cardmembers saw exclusive benefits, including breezing through the American Express Priority Lane, relaxing in the Lounge, and accessing reserved seats at the festival’s special events. Additionally, Amex hosted exclusive live demonstrations and tasting sessions.
Hosted by Franco Stalteri, the founder of Charlie’s Burgers, guests sat in on a chat with Oliver & Bonacini’s Chef Michael Bonacini. During the Q&A, he talked about his illustrious career, where he finds creativity, as well as current food trends. Most recently, the Master Chef Canada judge found inspiration from the homegrown talent he’s met on the television program.
Moderated by Chatelaine Food Director Claire Tansey, Twitter contest winners attended an exclusive Q&A with Chef Lynn Crawford. Guests had a chance to mix and mingle with Lynn, while hearing about how she got started as a chef, as well as other cooking adventures and tips—like how grilling snap peas can make for a unique twist on a quick, fresh snack!
