Jimador’s Punch

A BITTER TWIST ON THE MESCAL NEGRONI, Jimador’s Punch is the smoking-hot best-seller in The Diamond’s cocktail kit collection, which Vancouverites can pick up or have delivered through DoorDash. Conner Joseph says even though they were a “little late to hop on the takeout train,” the carry-home kits have become a popular choice for last call now that bars in British Columbia must cut off sales at 10 p.m.

INGREDIENTS

  • 45 ml (11⁄2 oz) reposado Tequila
  • 15 ml (1⁄2 oz) Campari
  • 20ml (2⁄3oz) grapefruit juice
  • 10 ml (1⁄3 oz) lime juice
  • 15 ml (1⁄2 oz) smoked tea syrup*

METHOD

Combine all ingredients in shaker with lots of ice. Shake hard for 10 to 15 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.

*Smoked Tea Syrup

  • 25 ml (11⁄2 tbsp) Lapsang souchong tea leaves
  • 250 ml (1 cup) hot water
  • 250 ml (1 cup) sugar

Steep tea leaves in hot water for 10 minutes. Strain leaves. Add sugar to the tea and stir until dissolved.
