Located near the Bell Centre in a retail no-man’s land, Nora Gray is nonetheless always full—which says a lot about the love regular customers sustain for this modern Italian eatery.
They are not only hockey fans. They pack the place because it has the modern, friendly homey atmosphere one looks for downtown, either at the end of a day at the office or after a concert.
The chef here is Emma Cardarelli who left the kitchens of Joe Beef and Liverpool House to open this lively spot with another Liverpool House alumni – sommelier Ryan Gray. Together with their business partner – front of house manager Lisa McConnell – they delight diners with dishes such as rabbit and leek tart or roasted roots and toasted farro salad and carefully selected private import wines, mostly organic or natural, often sold by the glass.
The best way to enjoy a visit is at the bar or with a group of friends. But beware: with the low ceiling and the ’60s style wood panelling, the decibel level can get pretty high.HOURSTuesday to Saturday
