Food fanatics might want to grab dinner in front of the TV tonight and check out Michael Pollan’s new Netflix series, “Cooked.”
Based on the 2013 book of the same title, it’s an exploration of food through the four elemental categories of fire, water, air, earth. Viewers will enjoy the vicarious travel as Pollan visits a Moroccan bakery, a nun/microbiologist making cheese in Connecticut and Western Australian hunters fire-roasting lizards.
As appealingly exotic as those stories sound, it’s the underlying homespun message that has the biggest resonance: rediscover the joys of cooking at home and for your family.
