Milos is Canada’s most successful high-end restaurant concept. First came Montreal, then New York, and just in time for the Athens Olympiad, owner Costas Spiliadis did the impossible and introduced his authentic Greek cuisine to… Athens. Next, Las Vegas, Miami, and later this year, London. It all started with a modest restaurant on an unfashionable strip of Park Avenue, and a commitment to serving the best, freshest available fish and seafood, prepared with Mediterranean simplicity. Fish are displayed on ice and sold by weight. Most are grilled whole, dressed with oregano, olive oil and lemon. The selection is exceptional: porgy, John Dory, snapper, swordfish, lavraki (sea bass), lithrini (red bream), and of course live lobster and exceptional shrimp. Vegetables and side dishes are uniformly excellent—from the Greek salad, to the zucchini ribbons with tzaziki, to grilled mushrooms. The place is a particular favourite for visiting film and entertainment industry types.
