Guests can squeeze around the “pretty” rainbow-hued mezcal tasting bar up front or travel further back to the quirky, darker and not-at-all “ugly” industrial bar where even the candy bowls are curated. At Pretty Ugly, the inimitable Evelyn Chick and her nearly all-female team make cocktails using unconventional spirits layered with flavours and textures from a vast array of house-made infusions, liqueurs and herb reductions. Equal creativity is applied to a pioneering menu of carefully constructed placebo cocktails (less stigmatizing than mocktails). Did someone say non-alcoholic Campari?
