Best Bottles: Beattie's Potato Vodka

Beattie’s vodka is distilled in Alliston, Ontario, from Russet and Dakota Pearl potatoes grown on the fifth-generation Beattie family farm.

Launched in 2016, the brand knows how to ride the craft distillery wave with all the right hipster slogans—“from farm to bottle,” “from our fields to your glass” and “5 generations of farm-crafted pride.” But their marketing strategy is backed up with serious substance. Master distiller Greg LeBret- on’s small-batch distillations (numbered and dated on each bottle) are exceptionally smooth, even as tasted at room temperature. The nose is clean and bright, and the vodka is round on the tongue, with notes of caramel and a hint of sweet almond nutti- ness. This is excellent vodka at a very good price. $38
