Best of the City 2019

Our Summer Best of the City 2019 dining series featured an inspiring collection of chefs and restaurants from across Canada.

The buzziest restaurants echo their respective city’s vibes—the pulse of its people and the foods they crave. From the broad culinary tastes of a multicultural metropolis to seaside restaurants scattered along a shoreline that proudly display local bounty, our Best of the City 2019 restaurants featured fine food and wine pairings for a most appreciative audience across the country.

In Calgary,  Calcutta Cricket Club chef Rene Bhullar’s wowed diners with his inspired Indian menu,  while Cam Matches from Hope Family Wines proved that Indian food and wine can be a beautiful thing. In Vancouver,  Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar chef Roger Ma kept things fresh with  Christian Pisetta from Alois Lageder.  Regina’s Avenue Restaurant chef Dale Mackey,  and Saskatoon’s Hearth chefs Beth Rogers and Thayne Robstad prepared knockout dinners, ably supported by Graham Nordin from Mission Hill Winery at both dinners.

In Montreal Pastel chef Jason Morris and Mark Allen from Maison Louis Latour impressed. Moncton’s Les Brume du Coude saw a pairing of chef Michel Savoie with Alessandro Leone from Antinori Estates. In Ottawa Riviera chef Jordan Holley and winemaker Mark Beringer of Beringer Vineyards surprised and delighted, while at Oakville’s Hexagon chef Rafael Covarrubias and Ewan Procter from Penfolds and Beaulieu Vineyards were a hit.

Every Best of the City dessert was made with a selection of superlative Cacao Barry chocolate.  At the end of every dinner guests were treated to Nespresso Exclusive Selection Kenya Milima or Pure Origin coffee (and other exclusive gifts!) and served a pouring of The Dalmore 12-year-old Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky to finish.

Automotive partner Volvo displayed the dreamy 2019 S60 Sedan, the XC 60 and XC 90 SUV‘s and thoughtfully included a very special offer for guests.
