Canada’s Best Easter Eggs 2017
Nothing inspires more creativity from chocolatiers and candy makers then the holidays.
With Easter right around the corner, here’s our round-up of some of the most beautiful, awe-inspiring Easter eggs.
Soma Chocolatemaker
This year’s chocolate eggs from Toronto’s Soma are lacy and fancy, piped on one side, with the opposite negative pattern on the other. The pod sits on a beautiful nest made of gianduja (hazelnuts milk chocolate). These eggs come with a surprise inside, a buttery and addictive carrot and blood orange cone. It’s like a Kinder Surprise for adults.
JACEK Chocolate Couture
Alberta’s JACEK Chocolate Couture has taken the natural beauty of speckled robin’s eggs and created easter eggs with dark chocolate shells, filled with a creamy caramel ganache.
BETA5
Our readers in Vancouver should pop into BETA5 and check out their Easter Crocus Buds. These eggs combine dark chocolate and house-made pralines and are lined with crispy textures and filled with pebbles. Flavours include; coconut and passionfruit filled with coconut macadamias, raspberry and cocoa nib filled with raspberry almonds, and crispy hazelnut filled with hazelnut praline pebbles.
David H. Chow Chocolates and Confections
Chocolatier David Chow has created some truly stunning Eater Eggs this season. His signature Sunny-Side-Up eggs are accompanied by what looks like the very definition of egg-ception…an egg inside an egg.
Chocolates X Brandon Olsen
Located on College Street in downtown Toronto, Chocolates X Brandon Olsen takes inspiration from the late David Bowie and created the Ziggy Stardust Disco Egge. This easter egg, with it’s colourful and masculine shell, contains handmade chocolate truffles, aerated milk chocolate, cocoa nibs, Maldon sea salt, and pink peppercorns.
Chocolatier Constance Popp
This Winnipeg-based brand uses only fresh, whole food ingredients with no artificial flavours or preservatives and the finest premium chocolate. CCP’s notable chocolate hollow eggs have made their return just in time for Easter. Some even have flowers in the middle.
