Sometimes the only thing we feel like putting together at dinnertime is someone else’s nearly finished handiwork. But then, a top-quality, low-effort meal kit that’s also bristling with bright, fresh flavours that leave you feeling both sated and healthful — well, that’s an elusive commodity. Or so we thought until we tried the takeout from The Edible Story — Alanna Fleischer and Brian Cheng’s catering-and-event space in Toronto. Can you handle loading a freshly pressed corn tortilla with tender strips of succulent seared flank steak, diced squash, pickled onion and a drizzle of tomatillo salsa? Would you prefer to cut open a pillowy fresh-baked pita and fill it with succulent chicken, tahini and hummus, and enjoy it with an array of delicious salads built on roast cauliflower, eggplant, tomato and chickpeas? We say, try both.

They put the most amazing dinners together and package them so beautifully that it is like receiving a wonderful [and delicious] present. So far, I haven’t seen any takeout dinners like it.”
