A destination for refined cocktails and wines, this bar offers a sublime drinking experience that is separate from the award-winning French restaurant counterpart.
The Bar at Alo, which is walk-in only, features classically-inspired cocktails, fine brandies and the same wine list as it’s award-winning french restaurant counterpart, Alo.
Opened in 2015, Alo has stolen the #1 spot on our 100 best restaurants list not once, but twice! Better yet, Patrick Kriss and his team recently made the cut for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018. The barroom is an integral part of the Alo setting, with its free standing bar and dark, oriental-styled mural-covered walls.
While the restaurant focuses on a multi-course prix fix menu, the barroom offers an a la carte menu with choices ranging from east coast oysters to confit duck leg — bar fare at it’s absolute finest.
The Armagnac Old Fashioned is a must-try. This curious cocktail is built in the glass with a dash of absinthe, and nearly overflows with complex, herbaceous flavours. This drink is best served on a late summer evening at The Bar at Alo — At sunset, the light refracts on the bottles to fill the barroom with a whimsical array of colours—and the effect is truly glamorous.
The Bar at Alo is No. 5 on our inaugural Canada’s Best Bars list
