Dark, warm and quirky, this chill Parkdale local, currently in legal limbo, offers an adventurous tasting experience for everyone—the sober-curious included. Up front, a Vietnamese snack bar is squeezed into a rustic cantina that once housed a Mexican rug shop and mescal tasting bar. Mescal still plays prominently in the narrow, cyberpunk-themed main bar, where industrial cages, Asian accents and high-gloss wood are lit with a subtly stunning glow. Prettyugly was a Canadian pioneer in the zero-proof cocktail movement. Here they’re called placebos (less stigmatizing than mocktails) and creatively mixed with house-made preserves, infusions and tinctures. Did someone say non-alcoholic amari?
