It’s fitting that this chic 25-seat bar is hidden behind Maison Cloakroom, a menswear shop in a striking century-old Golden Square Mile building. Cloakroom is renowned for bespoke cocktails made with the precision and craftsmanship of a seasoned tailor. As with top suiting, this bar takes a technical, yet invisible, approach to ingredients and preparations, relying instead on a deep library of house-made amari, liqueurs and tinctures made using low-temperature distillation to capture delicate, precise flavours like lime leaf or pandan. A further collection of vintage spirits, including an impressive range of aged amari, vermouth and Bourbon, has been assembled over the past decade. This selection comes together in whatever you feel like at the moment. There’s no menu here, so classics are personalized-to-order, served up by bar staff who have been trained by co-owner and mixologist Andrew Whibley to size up a guest’s perfect fit.
