This bar-restaurant hybrid plays up the exposed brick, wood beams and split-level layout with mid-century additions that give it a slight rumpus room ambiance. Here, a Scandinavian fireplace, there, long banquettes, all over, plants in macramé hangers. It’s the perfect setting for a chill lunch, or an evening or late night out with plenty of cocktails and wine. A chef-driven menu includes lots of nibbles, along with pizzas, pastas and meats roasted in the wood-burning oven or over the wood-fired grill. Large plates focus on fish, fowl and beef, with numerous vegetable dishes, such as roasted carrots with earthy tahini and a bristling of chili heat. Eggplant fries, with their crisp exterior and perfectly dippable garlic aioli, make for the perfect late-night snack. Wine and cocktail enthusiasts will find something to love on the strong list, which also includes a fine showing of local beers along with a healthy selection of sakes. Like the slightly vintage vibe, the cocktail list is punctuated with classics. But bartenders have the freedom to play, as demonstrated by many tempting drinks with unusual ingredients, from a chili-infused tequila to champagne vinegar.
