Other than the party-bar vibes and an ambitious and impressively tight cocktail program, Civil Works couldn’t be more different than the team’s original award-winning bar, Civil Liberties. Bespoke cocktails aren’t on offer here. And the new digs are easily triple the size, and fancy (like, hotel-lounge-level fancy). Somehow, though, the spirit of adventure and mad-scientist experiments have made the jump, as evidenced by a menu based in juvenile humour (the Pounding Sand beach-inspired cocktail) and fabulously fun programs (craft Jell-O cocktail shots — the Fernet and Coke is a must-try.
