Salvador Dali’s Les Dîners de Gala is a cookbook journey into the surreal.
He may be best known for his melting clocks, but Salvador Dalí’s talents stretched far beyond the canvas into the kitchen.
Les Dîners de Gala, originally published in 1973, was Dalí’s first and only foray into the cookbook realm, producing 136 fabulous recipes. Today, the book has been re-issued and will be released in early November but is currently available for pre-order.
The provocative dishes are accompanied by even more scandalous images pulled from Dalí’s long career. Les Dîners runs the gamut of cultural exploration with recipes for Chinese “Thousand Year Old Eggs” and a “Bush of Crayfish in Viking Herbs.”
Certainly a sight for fans of Dalí and food lovers alike, you might want to hold off on gifting this cookbook to your mother in law for the holidays – Chapter 10 is dedicated solely to aphrodisiacs.
