AN APP FOR GOOD TASTE!

May. 08 2026

Montreal’s food-and-dining app is on the move.

Tastet.ca is coming to Toronto. Which is excellent news for anyone who relies on Élise Tastet’s news-packed, interactive —and, above all, ultra-trustworthy — guide to Montreal’s food-and-dining scene. In the 12 years since she created it, Tastet.ca has become that city’s go-to reference, beloved for its accuracy, authenticity and the tone of constructive criticism.

“The intention has always been to go international,” says Tastet, “but with the current geopolitical situation, it makes sense to begin in Canada. We’re bringing Toronto everything we already do in Montreal — our mobile app and interactive map, our huge social presence, the list of the best places, organized so you can find where to go on a date, take clients, take children, and other criteria. I believe it’s going to be useful.”

Tastet’s start-up advisory team in Toronto includes some savvy industry tastemakers — photographer Daniel Neuhaus; chef-restaurateur David Schwartz of Linny’s, MIMI and Sunny’s Chinese; and front-of-house star Hailey Burke from Bar Raval. “People who really know the city,” says Tastet, “because although I love Toronto and have been [there] many times over the years, you need locals who actually live there.” There’s good news for Vancouver, too. Tastet.ca has firm plans to expand there in the fall.
