International Kwizinn

Kwizinn, the Caribbean fusion hot spot by Haitian-born Chef Michael Lafaille and co-owner Claudia Fiorelli, recently relocated to Montreal’s Old Port.

There, it is serving up unique dishes big in rich, bold flavours with a wide global influence. Lafaille plays with European, South Asian, African, and Latin-inspired dishes by incorporating a Caribbean flavour profile. Now nestled in a bustling restaurant strip on a cobblestone street in a charming neighbourhood, Kwizinn is a great dining option for visitors and locals alike looking for upscale and creative cuisine.

There’s a little something for everyone on the food menu, which consists of sharing plates often prepared on Kwizinn’s charcoal grill. The restaurant has hooked regulars with its Octopus Carpaccio, elegantly presented thin slices of tender, marinated octopus topped with a spicy sauce vierge, focaccia, and creamy avocado. The not-to-be-missed Obe ata Naija, a riff on the Nigerian staple, comes as a colourful plate of charcoal-grilled oyster mushrooms, herbaceous cashew gremolata, a dollop of labneh, and jammy obe ata sauce. Vegetarians take note: the menu also offers satisfying vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free-friendly options.

Kwizinn’s beverage program boasts an all-natural wine list and house cocktails, like the fan-favourite Ti Piña, a piña colada that uses seasonal flavours and is served in a hollowed pineapple. The mixologists are happy to show off their culinary muscles and invent off-menu cocktails and alcohol-free drinks as needed.

With an every Thursday jazz night, Cuban night every Sunday, DJs on weekends, and brunch from Thursday to Sunday, Kwizinn isn’t just an intriguing dining experience—it’s a celebration of culture, creativity, and community. Look out for their food truck at Montreal’s many festivals.
