A modern meal worth savoring
Toronto’s Thai dining scene is dense with places to get a Thai meal, but few spots are able to celebrate tradition and heritage while also trailblazing a new category of creativity and groundbreaking flavours. But Chef Art’s restaurant, Savor, can do both.
Tucked in the heart of St. Clair West, Savor has two menus – an à la carte menu with satisfying favourites like Gang Keaw Wan Gai (Chicken Green Curry), juicy grilled chicken in an herbaceous soup, and Massamun Neau, tender beef cheek swimming in a rich curry with root vegetables, and an experiential tasting menu where Chef Art’s expertise in traditional technique melds with his passion for modern gastronomy. Here, every colourful course arrives with a story, giving diners a glimpse into the unique soul of Thailand.
Savor’s cocktail menu is an adventure of its own – each creation reflects the character of a beloved family member. Every drink highlights authentic Thai elements: from Thai tea leaves used for smoking, to Thai-style salt chilli pepper rims, and crisp rose apple bites meant to be enjoyed alongside every sip.
Take the standout Pee Saaw (“the older sister”): a fruity-floral, gin-based cocktail that’s as elegant as it is expressive – the perfect match for Savor’s sweet, sour, salty, and spicy dishes. Then there’s Khun Lung (“the uncle”), a shareable cocktail inspired by a Thai twist on the piña colada. Infused with Tom Kha-inspired flavors – kaffir lime, galangal, tomato, and a touch of chili oil – it’s finished with a lemongrass smoke that heightens the aroma and depth, creating a truly unforgettable experience.
In the foyer, guests are welcomed by a “Chatra,” a royal umbrella that typically consists of many tiers – five for the prince and seven for the crown prince. But at Savor, the Chatra has nine tiers, which is reserved for the fully sovereign and crowned Thai king. And with a contemporary dining room accented in gold details, warm lighting, and layered textures, the restaurant’s serene space is the perfect setting to enjoy the unique offerings of the special Thai restaurant.
