There’s always a lot going on at Bar Mordecai, from the lively hotel-lobby-esque main floor to the raucous karaoke crowd putting ’em back downstairs. An ambitious events schedule includes bachata classes, tarot readings, bingo nights hosted by sex-ed drag queen Samantha Bitty, and over-the-top pop-ups like the kitschy Bar Besos event on Valentine’s Day. The cocktail program is a wildly original mix of everything, from drinks combining guava, chocolate and local pale ale to perfectly executed boozy soft-serve ice creams. Don’t sleep on the truly excellent fizzy wine program, which includes non-alc, rosé, sparkling sake and a selection of Champagne.
