Simple pleasures are in abundance at this pastel-washed Parkdale bar. Evelyn Chick’s cocktails are nostalgic and playful (currently, the ’90s-nodding menu highlights Cosmos and the like), but there’s no lack of polish, dimension and sophistication. Savana Bananas is a Banana Daiquiri, built with a house blend of rum, sherry, lemon and caramelized banana. Martinis are often topped with a goosebump of caviar. Daytime offerings include chef Cody Wilkes’s panino sandwich, done on house-made focaccia piled high with chicken or eggplant parm. The evening menu switches to Asian comfort dishes, like pork-and-mushroom-stuffed bāo or a glorious creamy udon carbonara tossed with lap cheong (pork sausage), chili crisp and Parmigiano Reggiano. For the indecisive, many cocktails come in half-sized portions, served in vintage glassware.
