Can Having Sex Stop Binge Eating?

We all know that having sex burns calories.  Did you know that it may also help binge eating?

According to research from York University and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, oxytocin aka the “love hormone” can also have a positive effect on eating habits – including binge eating. This powerful and slightly miraculous hormone not only lowers stress levels, but it helps to reinforce emotional bonds. Even a hug or a handshake is enough to put it into play.

During sex, oxytocin acts as a neurotransmitter in the brain, and researchers exploring the hormone’s effect on binge eaters were rewarded with finding that post-sex oxytocin levels can play a significant part in curbing binge-eating impulses.

The bottom line?  Eat well, ditch the appetite suppressants and spend more time in the bedroom.
