This small restaurant and adjoining inn, run by husband-and-wife team Warren Barr (the kitchen) and Lily Verney-Downey (front of house), has become synonymous with Vancouver Island’s tiny fishing village of Ucluelet (population: 2,066). The staff seems to know every guest’s name. Each dish on the local, hyper-seasonal tasting menu enchants — from local spot prawn crudo to truffle waffles with Alpindon cheese and morel jam, equal parts playful, satisfying and surprising.
