This is our kind of lockdown project. Chef Lorenzo Loseto is taking the irresistible gelatos and sorbetti that used to feature on his tasting menus at GEORGE Restaurant mainstream–and selling them by the tub with his all-new Alberobello Gelato and Sorbetto.
Loseto is a lifelong gelato enthusiast (well, who isn’t?) and more importantly, a graduate of Bologna’s Carpigiani Gelato University. He has a knack for blending classic flavour combinations with new clarity (for example Chocolate Amarena Cherry, guaranteed to make only the briefest acquaintance with your freezer). And his more original flavour combinations–like Salted Caramel with Olive Oil, and Blueberry Rooibos–work convincingly (okay, addictively) well. Alberobello offers Pistachio Oat Milk gelato for the dairy intolerant. And new flavours will be introduced every Tuesday–the frequency increasing as suitable, fresh and seasonal ingredients become locally available.
