From the outset, 416 Snack Bar resisted fancy cocktails, preferring instead to focus on carefully curated beer, wine and spirits. It’s fitting that this tiny, vibrant space spawned one of Toronto’s most famous “bartender’s handshake” mixed drinks, the Blackbird (equal parts Amaro Montenegro and Wild Turkey). More than a decade later, little has changed: 416 Snack Bar still serves first-rate cava by the glass, the food remains eclectic — and it’s still nearly impossible to get a seat at the bar.
