Cocktail Bar opened in 2011 as a place to go for a strong drink while waiting to be seated at the wildly popular Black Hoof across the street. Today, the restaurant is gone and the bar is beloved on its own merits. Sitting on the blondwood benches, when the light seeps in just so, feels cozy, like being in a design-conscious friend’s kitchen. Drinks from David Greig and bar director Juliana Wolkowski (Bar Raval, Dreyfus) range from esoteric riffs on classics (a Scotch, miso and sandalwood Old Fashioned) to the signature Hoof Manhattan and mint-green absinthe Whip.
