Chef Matthew Swift moved from Montreal’s Joe Beef to open the Alt Hotel’s restaurant in 2019 — a clean-cut room with glorious views of the harbour. Newfoundland produce stars here, including hand-harvested scallops and sea urchin, local oysters and the yield from Terre’s own greenhouse. On the menu: turbot cheek brochettes, marinated whelks on toast and beef-cheek pastrami. The blind tasting menu’s options show Swift at his improvisational best.
