There are temporary patios and then there’s The Keefer Yard. Vancouver’s grooviest outdoor pivot popped up last summer in a vacant lot beside The Keefer Bar (No. 2 on Canada’s Best Bars for three years running), its surrounding brick walls covered in graffiti murals. There were live musicians and boozy freezies, plus a nine-hole putting green (all fees donated to local charities), now closed due to Covid orders. Come winter, a transparent roof was hoisted overtop, several fire pits were installed, and an elevated deck was built in the back. Food can be delivered to your table by several nearby restaurants, including Bao Bei. There’s also oyster shucking, champagne sabring and now a brunch series lined up for summer.
