Best New Restaurants

ELIGIBILITY FOR OUR BEST NEW RESTAURANT LIST now extends beyond the previous calendar year to include the prior December. This provides restaurants that open late in any given year the improved likelihood of an adequate number of judges passing through before our annual voting opens each January. So, on this year’s list, you’ll find Jonathan Gushue’s The Gate, which opened in Flesherton, Ont., in December 2023. And some of the most-talked-about openings of late 2024 — like Montreal’s Rôtisserie La Lune — will now be eligible for our 2026 best new restaurants list. In the meantime, congratulations to all the entries on this year’s edition — great additions to our national dining scene, every one.
